Crispy Roasted Chickpeas

Roasted chickpeas pack a powerful nutrition punch. Okay, I’ll bite. How so? One cup of chickpeas offers almost fifteen grams of protein and thirteen grams of fibre. Trust me, that’s good.

We can all agree that good nutrition is important. Taste and texture are also important. Know how to make extra crispy chickpeas? Try the following practical tips I found from fellow bloggers:

#1 Pat the chickpeas dry. As dry as possible. Don’t rush this step.

#2 Remove loose chickpea skins.

#3 Be sure to add the oil in the recipe.

#4 Add seasonings after the chickpeas are roasted.

#5 Store uncovered on the counter. Don’t refrigerate.

#6 Roast the chickpeas at a lower temperature (~350 degrees F / 177 degrees C) for 45 minutes or longer

Roasted chickpeas are a staple in my diet. The chickpeas I ate during recipe testing were crisp after twenty-five to thirty minutes at 400 degrees F (204 degrees C). However, if you think the chickpea centre is still too chewy, follow tip #6 above from Minimalist Baker. Dana’s a pro and I trust her.

Need ideas on how to use roasted chickpeas? Add them to salads, tacos, bowls, wraps, pastas, pizzas, stuffed potatoes, soups or eat them alone as a snack. The possibilities are endless. I still find new ways to eat them!
